Define the Requirement Boundary
Material selection should not start and end with a grade. State the part use, loading, corrosion environment, welding needs, machining process, finish, quantity and target delivery.
Put Critical Conditions in the RFQ
Dimensions, tolerances, temper, finish and acceptance criteria directly affect the material and machining route. Provide a clear drawing and include its revision.
Final material selection requires confirmation against drawings, service conditions, standards and technical requirements.
